As a reflective tape manufacturer, Ysmilte is well aware of the importance of product quality, especially in terms of durability and longevity. ISO washing tests are a key step in our evaluation and assurance of product quality.
Purpose of ISO washing tests
ISO washing tests are designed to evaluate the washability of textiles after washing, including changes in appearance, size and physical properties. This is essential for consumers to understand the quality and life of the product, and also helps manufacturers improve product quality and user satisfaction based on the test results.
Testing principle
ISO washing tests are conducted using fully automatic washing machines to simulate actual household washing conditions and wash textiles multiple times. During the test, the washing machine performs washing, rinsing, dehydration and other operations according to a predetermined program to simulate actual use conditions to the greatest extent possible.
Testing process
- Sample preparation: Select representative textile samples, cut them into specified sizes, and pre-treat them to eliminate size differences and potential defects.
- Testing instrument preparation: Use a fully automatic washing machine for testing, ensure that the washing machine is in good condition, and perform necessary calibrations.
- Washing procedures: According to ISO standards, set specific washing procedures, including water temperature, detergent dosage, washing time, etc.
- Post-washing treatment: After washing, the samples are rinsed and dried to prepare for subsequent performance evaluation.
Test content
ISO washing test not only evaluates the water resistance of textiles, but also includes the following aspects:
- Dimensional stability: evaluates the degree of dimensional change of the garment after a specified number of industrial washings.
- Color fastness: tests the color retention of the garment after industrial washing, including the evaluation of various color fastnesses such as water, friction, and sweat.
- Physical and mechanical properties: evaluate the durability of the garment after washing, such as abrasion resistance, tear strength, tensile strength, etc.
- Appearance retention: By evaluating the overall appearance of the garment (such as pilling, deformation, wrinkles, etc.), it is judged whether it can maintain a good appearance.
Result evaluation
The test results usually use gray cards or instruments to evaluate the discoloration of the sample and the staining of the lining fabric or the fabric around the original fabric. The rating is usually based on a 5-point system, with 5 points being the best and 1 point being the worst.
Passing the ISO washing test ensures that our reflective material products can maintain their performance and appearance in actual use and meet the high standards of consumers and the market.

As a leading reflective materials manufacturer in the industry, Ysmilte's garment reflective tapes for clothing pass international standard washing tests (ISO6330, ISO3175 and ISO15797 washing tests).
ISO 6330 washing test
ISO 6330 is an international standard used to determine the percentage of shrinkage of textiles after home washing. This test includes specific requirements and conditions related to humidity, temperature and washing machine type. It covers washing (13 different washing programs for A-type horizontal front-loading washing machines, 11 washing programs for B-type upright mixer washing machines, and 7 washing programs for C-type upright mixer washing machines) and drying processes (including hanging drying, drip drying, flat drying, flat drip drying, flat ironing and tumble drying). A complete test consists of a washing program and a drying program to simulate the impact of a home washing environment on textiles.

ISO 3175 washing tests
The ISO 3175 standard deals with the professional care of textiles, including dry cleaning and wet cleaning. It is divided into several parts, of which ISO 3175-2:2017 specifies performance test procedures for cleaning and finishing with perchloroethylene. ISO 3175-3:2017 details performance test procedures for cleaning and finishing with hydrocarbon solvents. These test procedures include sample preparation, parameters such as the type of solvent used in the washing and finishing process, concentration, temperature, time, and performance test methods, such as the appearance and texture of the fabric, detection of fiber type and quantity, and evaluation of dyeing and finishing effects. These tests are designed to evaluate the impact of the washing and finishing process on the quality and appearance of the fabric and ensure the safety of the solvents used.

ISO 15797 washing tests
The ISO 15797 standard, "Textiles - Test methods for work wear by industrial washing procedures", is designed to evaluate the performance of fabrics and garments after industrial washing and drying. The standard defines 8 washing and drying conditions (called programs) ranging from mild to severe to simulate industrial washing environments of varying intensities. Tests include dimensional stability, color fastness, physical and mechanical properties, and appearance retention. These tests help predict the life of finished garments after repeated washing and their performance in actual applications.

Through these rigorous international standard washing tests, Ysmilte reflective materials ensure that our products maintain their performance and appearance even under the most severe washing conditions, thus providing customers with high-quality reflective materials.
