EN 20471
EN 20471 is the European standard for high-visibility warning clothing. The standard specifies the material, design and performance requirements of clothing to ensure high visibility for the wearer.
Visibility level: divided into level 1 (low-risk environment), level 2 (such as traffic supervisors, airport ground staff, etc.), level 3 (high-risk environment, such as road construction workers).
Optical performance: reflective materials must have sufficient reflective performance in both dry and wet conditions. The specific minimum value of the reflective coefficient at different incident angles and observation angles is specified.
Color: High visibility materials must have a specific fluorescent color (such as yellow, orange or red) and meet the requirements of chromaticity coordinates and brightness factors.
Surface Area: There must be enough fluorescent and reflective material on the garment to meet the minimum area requirements respectively to ensure adequate visibility.
Design: The design of the garment must take into account the wearer's visibility in various postures, usually including reflective strips on the torso, arms and legs.
ANSI/ISEA 107-2020
ANSI/ISEA 107-2020 is the fifth edition of the American National Standards Institute's standard for high-visibility safety clothing and headwear.
Performance Level: The standard divides garments into different performance levels (Type O, Type R, Type P) according to the wearer's risk level in the work environment, and specifies the minimum reflective and fluorescent material area for each level.
Material Requirements: The standard has specific requirements for the color, brightness and durability of fluorescent and reflective materials, and specifies test methods.
Design and Configuration: The garment design must ensure that the reflective and fluorescent materials provide effective visibility at all angles, usually including the configuration of horizontal and vertical stripes.
360° visibility: Reflective tape is required to wrap around the torso to ensure visibility from all angles.
NFPA 2112
NFPA 2112 is the standard for flame resistant clothing issued by the National Fire Protection Association.
Thermal Protection Performance (TPP): Clothing must pass a specific thermal protection test to ensure that it will not cause second- or third-degree burns within a certain period of time. The TPP value is usually required to be greater than 6 cal/cm².
Material performance: The standard has specific requirements for the thermal stability, tear resistance, puncture resistance and other properties of the material to ensure the integrity of the clothing under flame exposure.
Design requirements: Clothing design must take into account full protection, including coverage of the torso, arms and legs, and parts such as seams, buttons, zippers, etc. must also have flame retardant properties.
Certification and labeling: All clothing that meets the NFPA 2112 standard must be independently tested and certified, and the product must be marked with a logo that meets the standard.
Oeko-Tex Standard 100
Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is a globally unified textile environmental certification standard that aims to ensure that no harmful substances are used in the production process of textiles.
Hazardous substance restrictions: The standard stipulates that textiles must not contain or exceed a certain limit of harmful substances, including heavy metals, formaldehyde, pesticides, carcinogenic dyes, etc.
Test categories: According to the end use of the product, the standard divides the test into four categories, from baby products (Class I) to products that come into direct contact with the skin (Class II), products that do not come into direct contact with the skin (Class III) and decorative materials (Class IV), with different limit values for each category.
Comprehensive testing: All products must be fully tested by the certification body, covering physical, chemical, biological and ecological requirements.
Continuous monitoring: The certification is valid for one year, during which the production process and products must maintain consistent standards, and the certification body will conduct spot checks and re-certification.
